Young guns news - Thursday 22 Dec 11

Callum Antell (Hibs/East Stirlingshire - goalkeeper) Keeps on receiving praise from all quarters for his form while on loan at East Stirlingshire. The former Swindon Town youth teamer made several excellent saves as his side drew 1-1 with Clyde last Saturday.

Elliott Chamberlain (Leicester City/AFC Telford - striker) Made his second appearance for AFC Telford last Saturday as Telford were beaten 2-1 by Braintree Town last weekend. The Wales U21 international has been missing from the first team squad after suffering from a mystery breathing complaint.

Josh Dawkin (Norwich/Kettering - striker) Will stay at Nene Park until January the 15th after impressing manager Mark Stimson. "He's a player I really like and the more we get him on the ball, the more he can create. It's great news, because he's done outstandingly well for us." - Mark Stimson.

Ibrahim Farah (Cardiff City - mdfielder) Is back at Cardiff City after his loan spell with Tamworth came to an end end this week. Farah was sent out on loan to gain some more senior game time experience.

Richard Peniket (Fulham/Hereford - striker) Was an unused sub as the Bulls drew 1-1 with Plymouth. The Wales youth international is into his second month at Edgar St, but unfortuntaley game time has been hard to come by.

Josh Pritchard (Fulham - defender/midfielder) Found himself in the unusual position of centre half as the reserves took on Liverpool. Pritchard played 90 minutes and also picked up a yellow as the game finished 1-1. "Joshua Pritchard, playing in central defence alongside Daniel Burn, performed superbly against the physically imposing Michael Ngoo during the first-half. Despite the striker’s clear physical advantage, Pritchard stood toe to toe with the striker and was rarely beaten in the air." - Extract from www.fulhamfc.com

Will Roberts (Coventry - midfielder) Picked up another assist as the U18's advanced to the next round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-2 win against Bristol Rovers. He was joined in the starting XI by Aaron Phillips (Coventry - defender).

Ashley Richards (Swansea City - defender) Continued his senior development with another 90 minutes as the Swans drew 0-0 with Newcastle. With Angel Rangel still out injured, the Wales U21 international has continued to deputise for his more experienced colleague and was tested once again as he came up against Argentinian Jonas Gutierrez.

Jon Williams (Crystal Palace - midfielder) Hopes to get the cast off his broken leg this week as he starts the long road to recovery. The Wales U21 international had an amazing first half to the season and will hope to return before the campaign finishes.

Young guns news - Sunday 18 Dec 11

Jonathan Bond (Watford - goalkeeper) Was an unused sub as the Hornets drew with Leeds and Blackpool. Bond was recalled from a successful loan spell at Forest Green Rovers.

Wes Burns (Bristol City - midfielder) Tricked his way into the box and was fouled for a penalty, from which his side scored. The U18's went on to beat Watford 2-1 last Saturday. He was joined in the starting XI by Miles John (Bristol City - striker).

Josh Dawkin (Norwich/Kettering - striker)
Scored but it wasn't enough as Kettering lost 3-2 to Gateshead last weekend. Dawkin is currently on loan at Kettering Town.

Adam Henley (Blackburn - defender) Made another senior first team appearance during the second half as Rovers lost 2-1 to Sunderland at The Stadium of Light. The full back came on at the start of the second half in place of the injured Olsson. He was also on the bench as Rovers slumped to a defeat agains WBA.

Elliott Hewitt (Macclesfield - defender) Is moving closer to a return after being sidelines by a groin injury. The Wales U21 international has been able to do some light running, but it's tentative at the moment.

Gethin Jones (Everton - midfielder) Was the only 16 year old in the squad as the Blues beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in the FA Youth Cup this week. Jones made an appearance off the bench during extra time.

Jack Nardiello (Stoke - striker) And the U18's are through to the next round of the FA Youth Cup after a win against Preston at Deepdale.

Aaron Oakley (Swindon - defender) And the Swindon U18's beat Premier League side Birmingham and now advance to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup this week.

Will Roberts (Coventry - midfielder) Kept up recent fine form with two assists as the U18's beat MK Dons 3-1 in the FA Youth Cup.


Young guns news - Sunday 11 Dec 11

Jonathan Bond (Watford - goalkeeper) Has been recalled by Watford after a successful loan period at Forest Green Rovers. The Wales youth international enjoyed three wins and four outings.

Wes Burns (Bristol City - striker) Scored as the U18's beat Aston Villa last weekend. Burns finished smartly as the team ran out 3-1 winners.

Elliott Chamberlain (Leicester City - striker) Has joined AFC Telford until the New Year but unfortunately picked up a rib injury against Luton.

Adam Henley (Blackburn - defender) Dropped back into the youth team with ease as they thrashed Thurrock 8-1 on Monday night.

Aaron Amadi-Holloway (Bristol City - defender/midfielder/striker) Has moved on loan to Bath City until the end of January. Holloway came up against Wales U19 colleague Keiron Freeman (Nottingham Forest/Mansfield - defender/midfielder) who lined up for the Stags. The game finshed 1-1. The youngster also started and made an impression with his power as Bath beat Telford 3-1 last Saturday.

Declan John (Cardiff City - striker) Scored twice and Theo Wharton (Cardiff City - midfielder) once as the Bluebirds advanced to the next round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-2 win over Bury.

Gerwyn Jones (Defender Dc United / Loyola Greyhounds) Was again voted into an All Atlantic 1st Team selection for the second successive year. The 20 yesr suffered a bad start to the season with a torn knee cartilage but recovered well following surgery. He rejoins DC United in the spring, but is attracting the attention of two further MLS sides ahead of the MLS Superdraft next December, when he graduates fron university.

Tom Lawrence (Man Utd - midfielder) Returned from injury to bag the first goal as the Red Devils beat Torquay 4-0 in the third round of the FA Youth Cup last Friday.

James Loveridge (Swansea City - striker) Scored with a fine volley as the Swans caused the shock of the round with a 3-1 win against Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup. He was joined on the scoresheet by Jandir Zola (Swansea City - midfielder) & Scott Tancock (Swansea City - defender).

Alex Nicholson (Newcastle - defender)
Is another Welsh youth international through to the next round of the FA Youth Cup as the Magpies beat Darlington 3-0.
Richard Peniket (Fulham/Hereford - striker) Has signed on for another month at Edgar Street. The Wales youth international has yet to feature for the Bulls.

Ashley Richards (Swansea City - defender) Replaced Angel Rangel after 26 minutes of last weekends 0-0 draw against Aston Villa.

Jack Simmons (Ipswich - midfielder) Entered the fray from the bench and scored a goal as the U18's beat Leeds in the FA Youth Cup this week.

Will Roberts (Coventry - midfielder) Kept up his impressive form with another goal as the Sky Blues U18's drew 2-2 away at Watford.
