No play off seedings
UEFA today confirmed that there would be no seeding for the Euro 2004 play-off draw that takes place on the 13th October.

The committee decided at its meeting in Bratislava that the 10 qualifying group runners-up will be drawn from the same pot for the five play-off matches in November.

The five winners of the play-offs, which will be played over two legs on the 15th and 19th, will qualify for Portugal.

"The committee took the view that this procedure is the simplest and fairest." UEFA spokesman Mike Lee.

Play off seeds
UEFA have today announced that they may seed the teams in the Euro 2004 play-offs. This could result in Wales facing one of the stronger nations.

An announcement is expected next week. The two-leg play-off matches take place on Saturday 15th November and Wednesday 19th November.

“This is not a big issue for the FAW as the fact that the UEFA Executive Committee was to decide on the format for the play-off draw was included in the Tournament Regulations from the start.” – Mark Evans (FAW)
