From what I have
seen so far in our group, Italy and ourselves are the only
teams possible of qualifying! I'm sure I will be joined by
thousands of other fans going to Italy where a point will
see us win the group, unlucky Finland you did your best for
us. |

Can, we do
anything wrong?!!!! sure we may have dipped a bit against
usa, but not only did we have only 2 premiership players
playing.... but also with the side we put out, theres no
chance of beating 10th in the world........ let them come
down here and meet our full squad then we will show em a
fing or 2. portugal is now on in our hands and we arriving
in style the way we play,Im hoping that we will meet england
in euro 2004 so we can once and for all show the world that
WALES are the best international side in britain, then in
the world cup show every1 what we can do and beat the likes
of brazil!!!!!
COME ON WALES, YOU DOING US PROUD |

It cannot get any
better. Maximum points from the opening four games, but the
next four are going to be difficult. But hopefully Finland &
Azerbaijan can take points from Serbia Montenegro in the
next few days & if that happens then second place is the
least we can hope for. The most important thing of all is to
get John Hartson & Mark Delaney fit for August because they
are key players. |

We've made a
perfect start! The players application has been exemplary. A
good start in Finland was followed up by a famous win
against, although a little under-strength by their
standards, an excellent Italian side. A potential
banana-skin situation against the Azeri's was avoided with a
solid performance away from home, followed by a more
convincing result in the return fixture. 10 goals, only 1
conceded (and that was a lucky deflection!), and more
importantly, MAXIMUM POINTS! Ten out of ten (so far) to Mark
Hughes, his coaching staff, the players, not forgetting our
supporters. I'd like to think we can get something from our
remaining away fixtures, and when the crowd gets behind the
team at home, on our day we'll give pretty much anyone a
game. CYMRU AM BYTH. |

Absolutely
outstanding- Benjamin D Gedig!! I have to say, having
reached the grand old age of 40, this is the most
consistently solid Welsh national side I can remember- the
shape is tremendous- it holds up well in the absence of
maybe 4 or 5 players- which has always been our downfall
really!
It's 02 June when I'm writing this and, having seen so many
"nearlys" down the years, I've having been scanning the
table and fixtures, I note that this next week is a real
hum-dingar for us [apologies to those who've worked this all
out already!]. Obviuosly, we're going to get 24 but just in
case, here's a couple of thoughts on who folks might like to
cheer over the next week...
At the moment, Italy can get a max total of 19 points,
Serbia 17 etc. If Finland can hold Italy, the best the pizza
boys can get [ah, remember the Anfield choir???] is 17. By
my reckoning, that'd put us just 2 wins away from the "F"
word- not bad with home matches against Finland and Serbia
MN still to come- Argol Mawr, it's all soo exciting!!!
So, Sgorio for all this next week and Ymlaen Suomi!!! |

i think wales now
are a match made in heaven. simon davies has made sure of
that apart from bellamy, earnshaw, giggs and hartson. ever
since he came he has been a high flyer and that goal against
italy will be something to remember for a long time. rob
earnshaw is fantastic. if we get players like him all the
time, one day we'll probably win the world cup and hopefully
be a match for brazil as turkey were. I'd like to see wales
play against france at the millenium stadium, surely barthez
will flop a shot and a welsh attacker will pounce on his
mistake. bellamy will match henry and giggs will cover
zidane. if senegal and usa can stun france and portugal,
wales can do the same. wales can no longer be minnows. mark
hughes can now prove that wales can be the best of the rest.
don't be scared of england just play your football. good
luck in portugal 2004, you can do really well.
PREDICTED RESULTS 2004
GROUP STAGE 1 WALES 2 TURKEY 1
GROUP STAGE 2 ENGLAND 1 WALES 1
GROUP STAGE 3 WALES 0 BULGARIA 0
QUATER FINAL WALES 3 SPAIN 2 (EXTRA TIME)
SEMI FINAL HOLLAND 2 WALES 1
Thats all i have to say for now. good luck |

i bet u this time
next year we wil be ranked in the to 20 world ranking. wales
have got a quality team now and i can see them doing well in
euro 2004 and they can qualify for the world cup.
savage,davies,delaney,giggs,hartson,bellamy and earnshaw
have quality. we only lost to usa because we had a reserve
side our proffessionals are still unbeaten, so that friendly
match won't count against them. o, and speed is good aswell. |

What a
disappointment it was to lose our unbeaten streak against
the USA, but I'm sure we will be able to pick ourselves up
for the clash with Serbia & Montenegro. Seeing as Azerbaijan
managed to get a 2-2 draw, the only way we're going to lose
if thanks to it not being an international date and players
may not be realsed. Obviously we'll see what the Welsh boyos
have when we travel to Italy, but based on our recent
performances (USA game doesn't count) I'm sure we can come
away with a point and go off to Portugal. |

ALTHOUGH WE HAVE
LOST OUR BEST TEAM IN THE FRIENDLY AGAINST USA, I STILL
THINK WE CAN GET A RESULT. SIMON DAVIES HAS BEEN ON FIRE NOW
SINCE THE CROATIA FRIENDLY AND I THINK HE WILL SCORE AGAINST
THE YANKS. I RECKON THE SCORE WILL BE 1-1 OR 2-2. THEN AGAIN
WE MIGHT WIN, BUT WE'LL JUST HAVE TO SEE. AND GOOD LUCK TO

I think that we have shown a lot of spirit, determination
and skill in all of our games and we are very difficult to breakdown. For the first time in years we are able to hold onto the ball and keep possession and this means we are creating more chances and conceding less. With new found confidence we can go to Italy and Serbia-Montenegro and achieve positive results and qualify as group winners. A play-off place would be disappointing, but we would have taken it before the games started. |

As one of the few teams still with a 100% record we are doing the best possible. I really feel that we will be in Portugal as group winners, so much in so I've put my name down for tickets with UEFA already. I also think that we only need two draws from the next two games to put us as clear favourites. So let's continue to cheer on the boys like we have done. |

exellent and should carry on the way they are.We should replace Mellvile and Paul Jones.Im sry but they'l be past it by euro 2004 unless jones get's more first team games.Play Gabbidon and Page in the center while try Daren Ward in goal. Anyway well done and carry on ur performances in the next few games so we can qualify for euro 2004. Hope 2 Wales in the next 2 home games then in Portugal.

Wales are doing very good so far, but at the end of the Matches, put Earnshaw on, if he scores, put him in all the time. Davis is doing well and he needs to stay in the Starting 11. Hartson is good but I feel Earnshaw could do better than him. |

Wales have their best chance in eight years to secure a place in a major tournament. Mark Hughes has blended together a great mix of young and older, more experienced players. The Italy clash is huge, and potentially sets up a great Welsh sporting milestone, thats something we'd all like to see!!! |

We have to keep our feet on the ground, its great that we have so much attacking talent like the old team in 92/93 but what pleased me most about the this game is the fact that Paul Jones only had to make a great save 70 minutes into the match, 60 seconds later we had replied with a goal to give ourselves a cushion for the last 20 minutes. Our defenders were excellent in particular Danny Gabbidon who has yet to put a foot wrong in a Welsh jersey, Andy Melville was also outstanding putting his body on the line saving Paul Jones from making countless saves, Mark Delaney reads the game like a player beyond his years, needs to brush up on crossing but a world class player without a shadow of a doubt, Gary Speed showed great awareness and leadership, not his best game in the red shirt but showed great ability in his part in the opening goal. Pembridge,Savage and Johnson did not stop running all match, whats great about this trio is that they keep getting better the more!
they play together which can only be beneficial to the forwards who need quality ball to work their magic, and lets be optimistic we've got more than one magician up front now, gone are the days of Welsh fans only cheering when Giggsy has got the ball. Davies,Hartson and did their jobs impeccably. Hartson with his famliar role of setting up runners from the midfield and winning the aerial battle against arguably one of the best defenders in the world right now, what people tend to forget about John is he is no slouch for pace and can also hit the target from 25-30 yards, if you dont believe me look back at some of his club and international goals, Giggsy was quiet for a long periods of the match which seemed to benefit Wales in the last third of the match, set the goal up with a breath-takingly simple pass, speaking as a life-long welsh supporter who has'nt missed a welsh match be it on tv or at the game, i still get the jitters when ever giggsy runs at people, without a
doubt the best player Wales have when he's on form (hopefully
against the Italians). Finally to top it all off Simon Davies is the new star in the Welsh squad and rightfully so, after the brilliant strike in Croatia he keeps giving Mark Hughes selection nightmares with players of the callibre of Craig Bellamy,Rob Earnshaw and the emerging talent of Jason Koumas all on the bench, Davies took his chance well and fair play to giggsy and davies they both got back well to help out in defence, If Spurs sold Davies now i think 20 million would be a bargain for such an exciting talent. On the whole i remmember four or five shots on goal we got in the match so lets not get carried away, but with the front players we have and a defence thats starting to look very solid and a manager who has got every right to claim his team are not scared of anyone, Da iawn bois bach! bring on the Italians |

I'm deeply disappointed that Mr Bowen seems to be on his way out of the Welsh set-up. He's got obvious talent as a coach - arguably him & Hughes are the two best indigenous coaches in the country. - and precisely the type of person who we should be nurturing, not getting rid of.
And let's not get too optimistic about the initial result. I think we should be grateful if we bring home at least a point from Helsinki. I know we CAN beat Finland, there's no doubt we have the talent (in players and couches) but as we saw in Croatia & Germany (Crossley kicking the ball at Page) as a team, we're still capable of outrageous cock-ups when we should be hanging on for
victory. |

I really think
we've got a squad capable of qualifying this time round.
Sparky's assembled a decent team and instilled a sense
of belief in them that will stand them in good stead
for the coming Games. After years of having Gould at
the helm Wales have slipped lower and lower in the FIFA
rankings hence having Italy Yugoslavia and Finland in
our qualifying group where as England only have Turkey
to worry about. C'mon Sparky, I could do with a nice
holiday. |
