Its hard to believe that Wales did not qualify for WC02. The core of Savage and Giggsy mixed with some youth for friendlies should gear up the side for 2006.

i think wales are starting to play much better as a team but they should make the most of their midfield talent with a 3-3-3-1 formation 3 backs 3 defending midfielders 3 attacking midfielders and a striker.

my team would be paul jones,mark delaney,andy melville,kit symons,gary speed,matt jones,robbie savage,ryan giggs,simon davies,jason koumas,craig bellamy,subs;danny ward,john robinson,john hartson,darren barnard,john oster.

dare i say after saturdays result against belarus that wales play better as a team without Giggs.maybe he was taking too much on his plate,he was taking every coroner and every free kick and most were of the poorest quality.today the coroners and the free kicks were a lot better.i am not saying that he should not be playing but......

Why worry about the Wales defense? It's been naff since the 1950's! We'd be better off playing more players in Midfield or Attack, where we do produce top class players, aiming to score more goals than we concede. (Well, it'd be worth a try... imagine the strikeforce of Iwan Roberts, Craig Bellamy, John Hartson, and Nathan Blake - backed up by Giggsy, Speed, and Savage! And then the Fulham boys at the back.... It could work

We have a lot of good young midfielders coming through. The lack of defenders worries me. I think if could add a top class centre back and left back to the current squad we could compete with anybody at full strength

I think Wales have a very good crop of players that i think would achieve on the big stage given the chance. The likes of hartson speed coleman m.jones s.davies and savage will one day hopefully achieve with Wales. But we all know the key man and he is the one and only RYAN GIGGS who is with out a question is the best in the world and so so valauble 4 Wales and oneday i know hell get to the finals of the world cup or european championships with Wales. And one other thing to the team GOOD LUCK AND RYAN GIGGS WE LOVE YOU.

Well the squad is very good ,but the team have to learn to play together like a team i think the solution for this is having more friendly's and more training.

Hope people agree because i think Mark Hughes needs to take a leaf out of Terry Yoraths book by playing all his best players in the same team and putting them in new positions just as Yorath put Hughes in midfield and Philips and Bowen in defence Hughes should do the same. There are enough players in the premiership who are Welsh to be able to have eleven in the first team and surely these players would perform better than lower division players. My team would be P.Jones (goalie) John Robinson(right back), Mark Delaney and Matt Jones (centre backs) Mark Pembridge(left back). In midfield Giggs(left wing) Speed and Savage(centre mid) and S. Davies (right wing).Upfront then John Hartson and Craig Bellamy. Subs could choose from John Oster, Nathan Blake, Carl Robinson, Darren Ward,Rob Page Darren Barnard, Jason Koumas, Danny Slatter. Most of these players are young enough and have experience of the premiership and 1st division which would suit Wales better.

well i was there on saturday, what made me mad at times we really did play football, then all of a sudden they went to sleep. to think the guys at fulham have had a good season and learning off one of the better managers what is happening they just fall apart. well im sorry but im still waiting for gary speed to show he really plays for his country or just turns up lets have a look at savage and jones in the middle, bit of a long shot but they play there bloody hearts out for there country its getting there with mark but there are still a few who need to be told they are playing for there country they are playing for wales.well there was no atmosphere on saturday its was bad you could hear the polish all the way through the match whats happened to all the singing to get behind the lads i think we let them down aswell as them letting us down for them few minutes.it wont make much difference tomorrow nite but the next home match lets get behind the boys maybe the faw need to get somebody in at the start to warm up the crowd well we needed waking on sat.well i have gone on again as i said before really brilliant site

Our hopes were high after the Ukraine game. Rightly so after fielding our youth against the best in Europe. They perofrm to such a high standard that we cannot decide wo was man of the match Robinson(Carl),(Simon)Davies or Jones (Mathew) so what do we do for the next game but drop all three and bring back Pembridge and Symmons who have tried an tested and failed for the last 10 years.........i have applauded everything Hughes has done so far but this baffled me on Saturday, what do you think!!??!!

I am disgusted that Coventry will not let Bellamy play for Wales. I am also disgusted to learn that Michael Owen's perents are Welsh, but the traitor was lured by the dark side.

I'm sure you are incorrect Llyr - "Saesneg ydi" parents M Owen - ED

I wonder if Coventry would have demanded that Craig Bellamy not play if he had been playing for England!!!!.Its a shame as he was probally the best Welsh player on the park against the Ukraine and looked dangerous everytime he had the ball. The sooner that Hartson and him get out of Coventry and back into the Premiership that better for Welsh football!!!!

GET DANNY COYNE IN THE SQUAD OK HE MESSED UP BIG TIME AGAINST BLACKBURN IN THE LEAGUE BUT GRIMSBY WOULDN'T BE IN THE FIRST DIVISION IF HE WASN'T THERE. IF MARK CROSSLEY AND DARREN WARD ARE GOOD ENOUGH FOR WALES COYNE DEFINATELY IS!!!!!

We need to start bringing through some quality youth. That means giving some of the U21's a few sub appearances, before they all decide to play for England!!! That also means picking some quality players in the U21's in the 1994 World Cup Qualifiers the only players who have gone from the U21 to the current campaigns full squad is Nathan Blake and John Robinson, those players are supposed to be in the peak of their careers! But where are they now? Most of them are in the Ryman League!!! Something is seriously wrong with 2 from 32 coming through! We need to identify talent and call them up before its too late! The players who are choosen should then be moulded for the Premiership and Full international honours. Until we identify youth Wales will always remain a second rate footballing nation such as the side we are today!

Played every team in the group and only lost once!! (not bad when you look at it that way is it?) We are still capable of coming second. Poland were an average team against a weak Scotland team, so as long as our squad doesn't get depleted in the next month we should be looking for 3 points there. I won't settle for less than wins in the other home games against Belarus and Armenia. Norway are in turmoil and if we can do to them what we did to their neighbours in Denmark a few years ago I don't think we will need to worry too much about the Ukraine match away which is the tricky one to forecast!! The squad is looking good at the moment and although I am not much of a Tottenham fan I think that Simon Davies is finally coming good and living up to the expectations that many have felt in the past couple of years unlike John Oster (who, as an Everton Fan!! thought was going to be a star player in the future). But theres stll time.......

I would like to see Wales being more positive and attack more than playing defensive and too deep. After Ukraine had equallised we attacked more and the Ukraine didnt have many chances for the rest of the game, whereas before we just defended and played too deeply and invited them to attack us.I am pleased to say that wales do seem to be improving though. We have gone four games without defeat and that includes an away trip to Poland the top team in the group. Lets keep it going and try to turn more of these draws into wins. Kevin Williams.

Dere m'laen Cymru!!!C'mon Wales, we should hav won on Wednesday but we didn't I reckon the expectation is too high, I think Delaney, Page and Bellamy all had a great game it would've been nice to get a 2nd goal but that's the way it goes!!!Better luck next time

Cyflawniad ardderchog hogiau!!. Even though we didn't win i came away very proud of the boys. I thought the right side combination was excellent with Delaney and Bellamy. If we could unearth another right back i would like to see Delaney move a bit further forward, his ability to go past opposing full backs rather put the chap on the left wing in the shade a bit!!

Wales need to start playing a younger side. The likes of Carl Robinson should be in a he is a brilliant playmaker and can supply th likes of Hartson with quality defence opening balls.

Wales have to control this game from the midfield...the ukrainians will largely depend on their two mega strikers....if the midfield is controled by Giggs, Speed etc and the ball passed to OUR strikers maybe just maybe theres a chance!

COME ON WALES

I think Wales could score against the Ukraine. Especially if the crowd give the same reception that they did at the Norway Game. Unfortunetly I've seen better defensive parterships at Sunday league games. The goals Wales give away are calamities. Hopefully Mark Hughes will stay at his position for a while and build up the partnerships of the whole team and get them to play as a team.

We have to go out there with no fear nothing but a win will do. The Ukraine has an excellent strike force but the game will be won from the midfield. We need to stop the strikers supply and feed hartson, he proved on saturday he can score now all he needs is the service.
