The Under 21 youngsters turned in a battling
performance before going down to a goal 16
minutes from time. It took two great saves in the
dying minutes from the Danish 'keeper to ensure
his side hung on for a victory.
Wales fielded one
of their youngest teams ever at this level, their
squad decimated by injuries and suspensions after
the 6-2 defeat against Italy on Friday.
The first goal
came after just two minutes when Brondby striker
Martin Smith lashed a 30 yarder into the roof of
the net. Wales quickly hit back with a deserved
equaliser on 15 minutes, when 18-year-old Kevin
Evans unleashed a low shot that surprised keeper
Nielsen, the ball going under his outstretched
arm and into the back of the net.
Denmark grabbed
the lead again with just 16 minutes left when
substitute Iddi Alkhag cut in from the right and
drilled a low shot past keeper Anthony Williams.
