Grant Basey (Charlton - defender) Bagged a brace as the free scoring full back helped his side savage the Lions last weekend.  The Charlton U18's beat Millwall 3-1 with the U19 international notching a header and a spot kick to give his side three points.

James Constable (Walsall/Kidderminster - striker) Scored a first half goal and put Kidderminster on the way to a 3-2 victory against Altrincham last Saturday.  He was joined in the starting XI by Rob Davies (WBA/Kidderminster - midfielder).

Neal Eardley (Oldham - defender)
Scored his first senior goal in league action last Saturday but it was not enough to even secure a point against Chesterfield.  And it seems Gareth Bale (Southampton - defender) may have a rival in a few years as the North Wales right back struck a stunning free kick to give his side a glimmer of hope during the first half.  It is also though that Eardley is being watched by several Premiership outfits according to the Sunday papers.

Michael Chedwyn Evans (Man City - striker) Scored as City dispatched Utd in the U18 mini derby last Saturday.  The Wales U19 international struck as City beat Utd 3-1.

Wayne Hennessey (Wolves - goalkeeper) Made his first appearance in three months as Wolves' second string beat Leicester 1-0 in a friendly.  The Wales U21 international came off the bench after 65 minutes and was immediately called into action to keep a clean sheet. The Beaumaris born stopper has returned to fitness with an unusual hobby, taking to the climbing walls of a local centre to conquer the boredom and help get mobility back in his shoulder.

Lloyd James (Southampton - midfielder) Scored his sides first goal as they edged Ipswich in an U18 cracker last Saturday morning.  The Wales U21 international levelled proceedings as his side ran out 3-2 winners.  He was joined in the starting XI by Ryan Doble (Southampton - defender) who played in the back four.  James also scored with a deflected shot on Wednesday night as the Saints beat Brighton 3-0 in a behind closed doors friendly.

Mark Jones (Cardiff - forward) Scored a hat-trick as Cardiff Youth dumped Merthyr out of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday afternoon.  The young Bluebirds ran out 6-0 winners and will now face Cambridge Utd.

Matthew Kendrick (Cambridge - defender) The ex Man Utd academy member helped Cambridge Utd pull off one of the shocks of the round as they dumped Crewe out of the FA Youth Cup on Thursday night.  The Wales U16 international played in the back four as Cambridge ran out 2-1 winners and will now face Cardiff City in the next round.

Max Noble (Fulham - forward) Scored one for his side as the slid out of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-2 loss to Bristol City.  The former Wales U16 international and Newport born youngster scored a consolation goal as they were over come by a Bristol City side containing Josh Klein-Davis (Bristol City - forward) and Christian Ribeiro (Bristol City - defender).

Liam Maloney (Preston - forward)
Put away a rebound as the Preston youth team beat Accrington Stanley 4-1 last weekend.  The former Wales U17 international struck his sides first goal on 36 minutes as they ran out comfortable winners.

James Owen (Chester - midfielder) And his fellow youth team players pulled off the shock of the round this week as City dumped Spurs out of the FA Youth Cup with a 1-0 win.  The blond terrier got stuck in with some fine tackling and blocking and will now look forward with anticipation to the next draw.

Michael Pearson (Oldham - defender) Looked lively throughout as the Latics reserves drew 2-2 with Tranmere in midweek. The former Wales U16 international got his side level early in the first half as he stole in front of the home rearguard to slot home a rebound.

Christian Ribeiro (Bristol City - defender) Celebrated his 17th birthday by signing his first pro-contract at Ashton Gate.  The Wales U17 and U19 international started with the clubs U11's and originally hails from Swansea but moved to Gloucester when he was five.  He hopes now to make the step up to the first team and hails David Cotterill (Wigan - striker) as someone who has shown how possible it is.

Sam Vokes (Bournemouth - striker) Made another appearance from the bench for the first team to highlight his promise.  Although the game didn't quite go as they had hoped as the Cherries lost 1-0 to Bristol Rovers, but the youngster has done enough to keep his place in the squad.

Young guns news - Sunday 10-Dec- 06

David Jones (Man Utd/Derby - midfielder) Hints this week that he wants to make his stay permanent at Pride Park. "There is a combination of things you look at and Derby have a great history, a great fan base and great staff.  The board have ambitions to get Derby back into the Premiership and the general feeling you get is of a club going places.  That is what I am feeling at the moment and that is why I am delighted to be here." - David Jones.
Ashley Morris (Merthyr - goalkeeper) Played for the Coventry reserves in midweek as his trial spell started with a win against a Major League Representative Side.  The young Martyr made one outstanding stop in tricky conditions and will have done himself no harm at all with an assured performance.

Chris Saunders (Charlton - defender) Made his first start for the U18 team after suffering from post-viral fatigue syndrome.  The former Wales U17 international played 75 minutes as the Addicks crashed 3-1 to Crystal Palace.  He was joined in the second half by Grant Basey (Charlton - defender) who was a replacement.

Owain Warlow (Lincoln - midfielder) Was once again an unused sub as the Red Imps beat Bristol Rovers 1-0 in midweek.  He will be itching to get some game time now after spending the past couple of weeks observing from the confines of the bench and prove why he is so highly regarded.

Sam Vokes (Bournemouth - striker) Started for the first time as the Cherries beat high flyer's Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Tuesday night.  The youngsters first professional game lasted 57 minutes with him having run his socks off in pain.  He only turned 17 in October and will have enjoyed his first team run out as manager Kevin Bond stuck his head on the line with and adventurous selection.

Jamie Price (Birmingham - midfielder) Started for the reserves in the Birmingham Senior Cup tie against Tamworth on Tuesday night.  And it was a goodnight all round for the Wales U19 international with the young tyro causing all manner of problems from free kicks and then getting on the score sheet himself with a superb volley into the far corner as the Blues ran out 2-1 winners.

Anthony Pulis (Stoke/Grimsby - midfielder) Started his first game for Grimsby after agreeing to a loan spell away from the Britannia Stadium.  The U21 international started as his new side beat an Accrington Stanley team containing Joe Jacobsen (Cardiff/Accrington Stanley - defender) 2-0.
