Grant Basey (Charlton - defender) +
Chris Saunders (Charlton - defender) Both started the U18's
teams defeat of Watford on Saturday. Both went into the referees book in a
tough encounter as the Addicks ran out 3-0 winners.
Andrew Crofts (Gillingham - midfielder) Added to his fine
end of season scoring spree with a goal as the Gills drew 1-1 Bournemouth on
Saturday. The Wales international scored his 9th of the season as he sneaked in
at the back stick to score with a header. The game also marked the return to
competitive action of Sam Vokes (Bournemouth - striker) who has been an unused
sub of late after getting injured whilst on U21 duty in Belfast.
Rob Davies (WBA - midfielder) Joined Josh
Klein-Davies (Bristol City - forward) and Lloyd Evans (Cardiff
- defender) in playing for the Bristol Rovers reserves on Monday
night. All played the full 90 minutes and Davies could have got on the score
sheet but his 20 yard shot struck the post. Evans was also in the thick of the
action as he cleared a shot off the line as the Pirates hung on for a 1-0 win
against rivals Bristol City. The City starting XI contained Dean Grubb
(Bristol City - midfielder) and James Wilson (Bristol City
- defender).
Michael Chedwyn Evans (Man City - striker) Has been ruled
out for the rest of the season with injury, which has been a big blow for the
City academy.
Sean Evans (Man Utd - wing back/midfielder) Has been
lauded by reserve team boss Brian 'Choccy' McClair this week. The reserve team
boss has been asked to nominate a reserve team player of the year, and Evans was
one of three chosen by the former Scotland international. He has only appeared
on YG once or twice this season, playing out of position in the defence, but has
obviously been quietly affective. "The nice thing about Sean I think is that no matter where you’ve asked him
to play in a game – and I’ve asked him to play in a few different positions this
year – he has always gone about it with a professional attitude and a smile on
his face." Brian McClair, Man Utd reserve team coach.
Gerwyn Jones (Tranmere - defender) Impressed so much on a
recent tour in the USA against Washington and Kansas so much in that he was
offered a 5 year contract by DC United, although the youngster is expected to
see out his contract at Tranmere.
Darren Moss (Crewe - defender) Was shocked to be offered a
new contract at Gresty Road after getting suspicions that he would be surplus to
requirements. "I don't think I've fulfilled my transfer fee yet, but if I am here
next season I will try and push and do as well as I can" Darren Moss.
Kayne McLaggon (Southampton - striker) Came off the
bench for the U18's as they beat Norwich 3-1 last Saturday. The Wales U17
international was brought on in the second half and slotted into a midfield role
and will now look to push on after being confirmed as a full time scholar for
next season. He was joined in the starting XI by Ian Jones (Southampton
- defender).
Daniel Nardiello (Barnsley - striker) Has been short
listed for the Championship Player of the Month award for April. His six goals
in four games have given his side the breathing space away from the relegation
zone and also brought him closer to a Wales call up.
Aaron Ramsey (Cardiff - midfielder) Made his Cardiff
debut last Saturday in the defeat against Hull. The Wales U17 international
broke John Toshack's record for the youngest player to make an appearance for
the Bluebirds.
Christian Ribeiro (Bristol City - defender) Helped the U18
team finish the season on a high with a goal as his team beat Aston Villa 2-1
last Saturday. The Wales U19 international steamed in at the back post to plant
a bullet header past the keeper, as his side took all three points.
Shane Sutton (Shrewsbury - defender) Is getting a lot of
reserve game time as the season draws to a close. The former Wales U17 training
squad member played the full 90 minutes as the Shrews beat Sheffield Wednesday
2-1.
Owain Fon Williams (Crewe - goalkeeper) Will have to wait
a little longer for his first team debut after manager Dario Gradi decided
against giving out anymore youth team debuts this season. The manager had
hinted that he would give the U21 keeper a game at the end of the season, but
because there are still play off issues to be decided in League One, has decided
that it would be unfair on the other teams to do so. |
