Bobby
Gould has now moved on and the search is on for a
new manager. He came in 1995 promising to put a
smile back on the face of Welsh football, but he
leaves us now unlikely to qualify for another
major championship. He made some mistakes, but to be
fair to Bobby Gould at least the work he has done
at grass roots level will surely benefit us in
the future.
After the two
defeats against Italy and Denmark, it leave us
with a mountain to climb, and we will need to win
our last two matches away to Belarus and home to
Switzerland to qualify. The only comfort I take
from those two defeats is the passion of the
Denmark game (if only it was played in Wales).
Was that passion to be seen against the
Italians?, we just sat back and let them play, we
even tried to play them at their own game (no
chance!), the less said the better.
We are just not at
a good enough level to compete against these
sides, we must come up with a game plan that
suits the players and stick to it. With a new
manager coming in, he must first install the
resolve that's been missing lately, and get the
players working for each other as a team and not
as individual's. Good luck to him whoever he
maybe?
Cymru am byth.
