YOUNG GUNS BLOG UPDATE

Young Guns Blog by John Jones.

In the process of gathering my thoughts on how to approach this version of my weekly offerings, I have an admission of being uncertain as to what should be presented. My intention each week is to provide an assemblage of words that give the reader a pleasurable few minutes as they assess the informative value of the material. Of course, the purpose of this feature is to give an insight into what may develop in the future. This is done by mentioning an array of young players and an update on how they are progressing in their careers. It was the reason it was first started by Owain Jones and as the present incumbent of authorship it is also desired to be the main focus of my attention. As I am sure those of you who have read some amount of what I have penned, I do digress at times by commenting on other issues. My rather lengthy version last time was another example of doing such things. I am going to continue with what may be regarded as something of a concluding comment on what was mentioned.

Hopefully, as I am seeming to detect, the disappointment of the outcome has lessened in the intervening days and there is now a regathering of an optimistic outlook toward the future. I am certainly a supporter of those feelings and though there is a great deal of unknown quantity in whatever assessment one may make as to how the path forward may unfold, there is an amount of positives that can be included. Although it is certainly not always the case, but on the other hand has been repeated many times, the end of a qualifying campaign has often left fans pondering as to how they could anticipate an alternative to such circumstances. At this point in time, though as already stated the team does need an infusion of new players, a strong core will give any newcomers the benefit of being surrounded by experienced players as they acclimatize to the demands of senior international football. Additionally, it does seem that the candidates that are knocking on the door are of sufficient quality to have a very good chance of succeeding at this elevated level they will be introduced into. What is maybe less certain is that there will be continuing availability of further alternatives in the time when more replacements are required. Having said that, even this concern maybe unwarranted as there does seem to be a good supply that may easily solve such issues if there is a continuation in early indications of their potential future development. The message that I am trying to convey to any of those who may be in doubt as to whether a Wales team can maintain the good ranking position it has achieved during the past few seasons is that there is a good possibility of the answer being yes.

Having made plenty of suggestions that the international careers of some of the present Wales team is drawing toward its conclusion, I must also add that there is much appreciation for the contribution delivered when that inevitability occurs. It has very much been a team effort that has created the position that they now hold, undoubtedly aided by ability of the more prominent stars, but nevertheless impossible to attain without the involvement of each part of it. They have greatly helped bring the Wales football team to the forefront of attention of not only the national public who have only some amount of interest in its accomplishments, but also made the world football public take notice of their capability. Of course, the expression of appreciation needs to be extended toward not only those who have given us pleasure on the field of play but also to the organization as a whole, who have helped make it possible. Without doubt those who play the most prominent roles in it have been extremely important but I am sure that they are also grateful to numerous personalities, little known to most of us, but ones who have provided the necessary supporting roles required to make the whole as successful as it has become. A very big thank you to all concerned.

In order to attempt to give Neil the opportunity to post this at around the usual time of the week it has appeared previously, I am going to stop at this point. I apologize if the content is not what you desired, I had started with an intention of making some amount of comment before moving on. Technical problems caused me to be without an internet service for several days and so I was not as prepared as I would have liked to deliver player assessments. I did lengthen the comment somewhat to try and compensate.
