Young Guns: Weekly update - Monday 29th April.

Billy O'Brien (Man City - goalkeeper) Made the step up from the U16's to the U18's last weekend as City beat Norwich 4-1.  O'Brien made some smart stops and will travel to join up with the U19 squad in a confident mood.  He was joined in the starting XI by Sam Jones (Man City - defender).

Jordan Cranston (Wolves - defender) Played 90 minutes as the U21's beat Man Utd 2-1.  Cranston has been an ever present for the development side this season and will look forward to pushing his claims during pre-season - either in the Championship or League One.

Two first team appearances this week for youngster Daniel Gosset (Oldham - Midfielder). The 18-year-old has been
offered a professional contract at the League One club. I thought he was fantastic because he is a lad who has come from nowhere. He has impressed me in training and done well in reserve games and, if you do that, you get your chance. Oldham manager Lee Johnson.

Lloyd Isgrove (Southampton - midfielder) Picked up an assist from an unlikely source as the U21's drew 3-3 with WBA.  Isgrove's cross was headed into his own net by Baggies defender Donervon Daniels.

Callum Harris (Blackburn - midfielder) Started as the U18's beat Man City 2-0 last weekend.  The young midfielder was a handful as his side collected all three points.  Sam Jones (Man City - defender) was a starter for Man City.

Elliott Hewitt (Ipswich - defender) Made his first senior start as the Tractor boys secured their future with a 3-1 win over Birmingham.  The Wales U21 international played 90 minutes and will hope to kick on and cement his spot for next season.
Aaron Amadi-Holloway (Bristol City - defender/midfielder/striker) Once again played 46 minutes for the development side as he continued his comeback from injury.  City beat Brentford 4-1.

Emyr Huws (Man City - midfielder) Captained and scored for the U21's as they beat Norwich 3-1.  Huws has put in some very impressive performances for the development side and has also benefitted from a loan period at Northampton.

Tomos Jones (Oldham - defender) Will be looking for another club after Oldham decided against offering the defender a professional contract.

Alex Lynch (Peterborough - goalkeeper) Travelled with the match day squad to face Derby last Saturday.  Lynch was not on the bench but will have been buoyed by his involvement.

Aaron Phillips (Coventry - defender) Has received a glowing report from Nuneaton manager Kevin Wilkin who backs the full back to have a succesful career.  The Wales youth international has been on loan at Nuneaton for a large period of the season.  He has also been watched by Sky Blues manager Steven Pressly.
Hes done great. Hes an Academy player with a terrific attitude to the game. I went to watch one of their games several weeks ago and he seems to be performing very well."

George Ray (Crewe - defender) Started as manager Steve Davis selected an academy XI side to face Walsall last Saturday.  The team won the encounter 2-0 with Ray playing 90 minutes.

Mason Spence (MK Dons - defender) Was once again on show for Colchester U21's as he tries to earn a contract after being told by MK Dons that he would not be offered a new contract at the end of the season.  Spence was up against Wales U21 international Elliott Hewitt (Ipswich - defender) who was getting some game time in the 3-0 win.  Former Ipswich youth player Jack Simmons (Colchester - midfielder) also got some game time against his former club.  Simmons has been offered a professional development contract by the club.

Aryn Williams (Burnley - defender) Will be one of several young professionals not offered contracts this summer.  The Wales qualified youngster, and brother of former Wales U21 international Rhys, will now spend the off season looking for a new club.
