    REFEREE PLANS

Wales plans to double the number of Women referees by 2023..

With sports being highly associated with men, female referees have been struggling to make a name for themselves in the football scene. However, various football associations are trying their best to encourage more women to participate in this male-dominated scene. Nonetheless, being a female referee can be daunting, and not many women are attracted to this profession.

Over the years, the Wales football association has been trying to encourage Welsh women to venture into this sports career. Today, there are about 30 registered female referees in the country, and the number continues to grow steadily. However, the FAW (Football Association of Wales) hopes that they will double the number within the next five years while developing officials with international standards.

What It Takes To Become A Female Referee In Wales

Thanks to FAW's online course, it's possible to be a referee as you continue enjoying the
Tambola Online Bingo. The Tambola Bingo game dates back to the mid 16th century and offers players the chance to make real money while having fun.

The FAW's course also gives women the chance to further their ambitions and develop their refereeing careers to international standards. They have a proud history of helping referees advance to the highest level, with a chance to be on the JD Welsh Premier League, FIFA Referees panel or the Assistant Referees panel.

Whether an aspirant wants to be officiating a local youth match or a World Cup Final, every new referee must attend and pass the referees course. However, the online course is only the first step to become a FAW referee.  The course starts with an online training module and ends with a practical session.

According to some of the female participants who have taken the course, the online module is very easy to use. It's also highly interactive with a mixture of presentations, quizzes, and video clips to help to learn all styles and understand the rules of the game. Other participants have also praised the online course for its convenience, especially when the learner has a busy schedule.

After successfully passing the exam, a learner has to pass the practical session to receive the Referee Starter Pack. That includes a whistle, Full Referees kit, Flags, and yellow and red cards.

    Cost and other requirements.

To encourage more women to join the refereeing career, the Wales Football Association doesn't charge any tuition fee on the referee's course. However, the exam costs around £15, plus a £5 fee for registering with the association if you pass the exam. Registering with the association is very crucial towards ensuring that the referee is properly insured while working as an official in any game.

To register for the course, every female applicant needs to be above 14 years and reasonably fit. The applicant also needs to have reasonably good eyesight whether or not she requires to use spectacles or contact lens. However, anyone who passes the exam under the age of 16 years becomes a grade 4C referee to gain more experience while officiating junior matches.

    Wrap up

After holding the first conference for female referees at Dragon Park, the FAW continues to support women referees in Wales. They hope their efforts will yield positive results and get more than 60 registered female referees by 2023.
