Weekend round up - Saturday 30th November.

    Weekend Round up.
Weekend player round up from Sophie Beresford.

    La Liga

At this stage in his Tottenham career, Gareth Bale was still a couple of seasons away from his first league win. With Real Madrid, he has already claimed his first hat-trick. Bale scored with his head and both feet (and got an assist) as Real Madrid beat Real Valladolid 4-0, making it eight goals in his past seven matches.

    Premier League
Aaron Ramsey scored two goals for Arsenal in a 3-0 away win over his former club Cardiff and earned applause from both sets of supporters when he refused to celebrate. Former Wales international Craig Bellamy was on the bench for Cardiff.

Substitute Jonathan Williams was back in action for Crystal Palace following an ankle injury. Other than that, it wasn't a good day for Williams. He, Danny Gabbidon, and unused substitute Lewis Price were on the losing side as Palace lost 1-0 at Norwich.

James Collins helped West Ham to keep a clean sheet in a welcome 3-0 home victory over Fulham. Jack Collison was an unused substitute for West Ham.

Boaz Myhill was in goal for West Brom, but his recent good form dipped slightly as his team lost 2-1 at Newcastle, who seem to have forgotten how to lose.

Joe Allen was an unused substitute and probably a far from happy spectator as Liverpool lost 3-1 away to Hull.

Ben Davies and Ashley Williams started for Swansea with Neil Taylor on the bench. If Swansea had been the home side, they might have had a chance, but Manchester City are rather good at home: they won 3-0.

    Championship
Andrew Crofts played 90 minutes for Brighton, who drew 1-1 at Bournemouth. Shaun MacDonald was on the bench for the West Country side.

Adam Henley was an unused substitute for Blackburn, who beat Leeds 1-0 at home.

Rhoys Wiggins was unable to celebrate his 150th career appearance with a win as Charlton lost 1-0 at home to Ipswich, though he did come close to scoring. Simon Church also started for Charlton.

David Cotterill was an unused substitute as his club Doncaster became only the second side to beat QPR, with a 2-1 home win.

Joel Lynch kept his place in Huddersfield's starting line-up for a 2-1 home victory over Burnley. Sam Vokes gave Huddersfield a reason to worry when he picked up another assist; no doubt they were equally terrified when his team-mate Brian Stock made a rare substitute appearance after half-time.

Steve Morison made a substitute appearance for Millwall after half-time, but was unable to prevent them from losing 3-0 at Leicester, who were without the injured Andy King. Jermaine Easter stayed on the bench for the Lions as manager Steve Lomas declined the opportunity to go 4-3-3.

It was a mixed night for Chris Gunter when Reading visited his former side Nottingham Forest. Reading walked away with a 2-3 victory, but Gunter walked from the field of play after receiving his second yellow card. Hal Robson-Kanu also started for Reading, and can celebrate his good behaviour as well as the three points.

    League One
Joe Walsh returned to Crawley's starting line-up alongside Nicky Adams, but their visit to Crewe ended with a 1-0 defeat.

Lloyd James started for Leyton Orient, who moved top despite a 1-1 home draw against strugglers Sheffield United.

Aaron Phillips dropped to Coventry's bench following a little issue with a penalty in midweek, but he made a 90th minute substitute appearance as his side beat MK Dons 3-1 away.

Charlton loanee Morgan Fox made his Notts County debut as a 68th minute substitute at home to Brentford. Fellow loanee Kieron Freeman (from Derby County) started the match, but Notts were back to losing ways with Brentford achieving a 1-0 win.

Sam Ricketts and Dave Edwards kept their places in Wolves' starting line-up, but Wolves slipped back to second place after losing 1-0 at Peterborough. Wayne Hennessey appeared in a Wolves squad for the first time this season and was am unused sub, but there was a ten-minute run-out for Jake Cassidy.

Craig Morgan was on the winning side as Rotherham beat Gillingham 4-1.

Michael Doughty started his tenth consecutive match for Stevenage (if my statistics can be trusted), but he found himself on the losing side as Stevenage lost 3-1 at home to Shrewsbury. Paul Parry got the assist for Shrewsbury's second goal, while Joe Jacobson scored the third (and was assisted by another Welshman, former youth player Darren Jones).

Manchester United loanee Tom Lawrence made his league debut for Carlisle in the 59th minute, but it was a Swindon team including Louis Thompson who claimed a 3-1 home win.

Owain Fôn Williams was in goal for Tranmere as they managed a 2-1 home victory over Colchester. Former international Jason Koumas was on Tranmere's bench.

Richard Duffy helped Port Vale to keep a clean sheet in their 2-0 away victory over Walsall.

    League Two
Ellis Harrison came off the bench and won a penalty to complete Bristol Rovers' 3-0 home victory over Wimbledon. Harrison replaced fellow Welshman Eliot Richards. Wimbledon gave loanee Kaid Mohamed a starting berth, but left Rhys Weston on the bench.

Daniel Nardiello (on loan from Rotherham) made it two goals in two games for Bury, though he had to settle for a 2-2 away draw at his former side Exeter. Former semi-pro international Craig Jones also started, while Arron Davies was a second-half substitute for Exeter.

Lee Beevers found himself on the losing side as Mansfield slipped to their sixth consecutive defeat. Morecambe took the points in a 2-1 away victory.

Christian Ribeiro played his third consecutive league match for Scunthorpe and got his third consecutive win, a 3-1 victory over Torquay. Nathan Craig got the assist for Torquay's goal (the scorer did look a little bit like Gareth Bale, but he's actually Millwall loanee John Marquis).

Troy Brown was in the Cheltenham side who scored a dramatic last-minute penalty to draw 1-1 at Southend. Goalkeeper Connor Roberts was an unused substitute, also for Cheltenham.

Andrew Hughes was back in Newport's starting line-up as they beat Chesterfield 3-2 at home and regained 8th place. Michael Flynn was an 89th minute substitute; David Pipe stayed on the bench.

    Scotland
Four Welshmen featured in Scottish Cup matches. Kyle Letheren's Dundee lost 1-0 at home to Raith Rovers; Owain Tudur Jones was a late substitute for Hibernian in a 1-0 away victory over Ross County; and Swansea's Gwion Edwards was an unused substitute as his loan club St Johnstone beat Livingston 2-0. Celtic's win was slightly more emphatic: they won 7-0 with the fourth goal scored by Joe Ledley, who also got the opening assist.
