SCHOOLBOY: France v Wales

FRANCE V WALES
The U16 National Development Squad is preparing for two fixtures against France in Rouen on September 29th and October 1st. The matches will be in preparation for the Sky Victory Shield games.

"It is vitally important that our young players are exposed to international matches against top nations such as France. Players in the most successful nations such as our hosts and Spain have more than 50 International caps before they ever play for the full national side. International experience must therefore start at an early age and this prepares them well for the future."  - Technical Director and Under 16 Manager Osian Roberts.

SCHOOLBOY: Celtic nations

CELTIC NATIONS

Wales hosts the annual Under 15 Celtic Nations Tournament this month.

The matches will be played at the University of Glamorgan Playing Fields, Treforest, near Pontypridd.

The matches feature 'A' & 'B' teams from Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The games are good preparation for next season's Under 16 internationals. "There are a number of very promising talents emerging from the development squad, all of which will get to show off their abilities next week.
It will be a challenging time for the boys involved, but a great chance for them to put into practice what they learnt last year. I am certain the squad will progress and develop with the end aim of creating a side that can confidently compete on the international stage in future years." - Osian Roberts.

SCHOOLBOY: Switzerland v Wales

SWITZERLAND v WALES

Wales’ most promising young football players will represent the country as part of a four day friendly international tournament in Switzerland.  Wales’ first match will see them face the home nation on Tuesday (14th) before playing Belgium on Wednesday (15th), and travelling home the following day. Born out of the Welsh Football Trust’s partnership with the Welsh Schools’ FA, the development squad represent the young talent that has been identified and developed from the Trust’s grassroots development programmes.

Manager and Welsh Football Trust Technical Director Osian Roberts is looking forward to seeing how his young protégés play competitively, and is keen to watch their developments alongside their European counterparts. Osian Roberts said: "There are a number of very promising talents emerging from the development squad that is heading to Switzerland. It will be a challenging time for the boys involved, but a great lesson which I am certain will help them to progress and develop with the end aim of creating a side which can confidently compete on the international stage in future years."
