John Toshack has named a 27-man squad for the friendly international against Poland. With several players having injury issues, the squad is slightly larger than usual, and they will be given as much time as needed to regain fitness.

The venue for the Poland v Wales friendly international in Portugal on Wednesday 11th February 2009 has now been agreed. The match will be played at the Vila Real De Santo Antonio Sports Complex, some 60km from Faro, on the Algarve. The venue is is on the main road between Faro and Seville in Spain. Kick off 5.15pm. Game LIVE on Setanta Sports and S4C.
earlier: The FAW have confirmed that Wales will play Poland in Portugal on Wednesday 11th February 2009. Venue and kick off time to be confirmed as Portugal are also playing at home on the same day. More details to follow in early December.

Wales manager John Toshack will announce a squad of either 22 or 24 players for the friendly international against Poland on Monday 2nd February at around mid-day. Game LIVE on Setanta Sports and S4C.
The FAW expect to play at least one, and possibly two, UEFA Under 21 Championship qualifiers around the end of March / early April 2009. The draw for these matches will take place in Denmark on February 4th.
Also, there may be a 'B' International in the middle of May, to keep players match fit between the end of the domestic season and the World Cup qualifier in June against Azerbaijan. Finally, there may be another senior 'A' international prior to the World Cup game in Baku. This could be a game played 'on the way' to Baku. |
