NEWS: FAW/JJB six year deal

FAW- photo linked from bbc.co.ukThe Football Association of Wales has announced a new kit sponsorship deal.

JJB Sports the high street retailer announces a 6 year deal to become the Official Kit Supplier and Official Retailer of the FAW from the 1st August 08. Images of the new kit should be available later in the month.

The deal is a major sponsorship agreement for the FAW and JJB and it will allow JJB to source and manufacture the international team kits, bench and training wear and also to provide replica and clothing collections as well as branded accessories for retail.

JJB Sports will utilise CHAMPION as the technical brand for the FAW. JJB Sports have signed an extensive deal with the well known and popular sports brand. Champion was founded in 1919 by the Feinbloom brothers in New York. Since Champion was established it has developed new product concepts, bringing authentic innovations, such as the first hooded fleece sweatshirt, which was designed to keep the body warm during outdoor training. Champion has spent over 80 years at the side of both famous sports stars and unknown athletes who have one thing in common, sweat and hard work. Simple words that ring loud and clear, just like Champions philosophy, Authentic, Athletic, Apparel. The Champion brand is a New and Exclusive brand to JJB Sports.

There will be a comprehensive range of Wales Football clothing and accessories products available from all JJB stores within Wales and online. JJB Sports has 25 stores in Wales, all of which will stock a full range of Official FAW merchandise. These are exciting times and everyone at JJB Sports is really looking forward to working with the FAW over the next 6 years.

NEWS: Four nations set for 2011

FAW - photo linked from external web siteThe Football Association of Wales have announced that the Four Nations tournament is likely to commence in 2011. The Associations of the Wales, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland ad Scotland met recently to consider progress and have agreed that the competition is likely to commence in 2011 during the months of February and May.

One nation is set to host the tournament on a rotational basis with matches to be played as double headers on the same day.
It is intended that the competition, with this format, will be attractive to the media, supporters and will provide the respective international team managers with a meaningful competition in which to assess players. Present fixtures congestion prevents a start earlier than 2011. "We're looking at having a tournament where we all play each other, so it's three games, and we're looking at having one game in February and two in May to tie up the tournament and have a winner established." - Scottish Football Association chief executive Gordon Smith.
