 Both Jason Koumas and Robert Earnshaw have been passed fit for the opening 2010 World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan.

Jason Koumas is also a doubt with an ankle injury. "We are keeping our fingers crossed and we will know more on Thursday. He is an important player for us, though". John Toshack.
 Koumas will undergo a late fitness test. Rob Earnshaw meanwhile hopes to be fit. Both Koumas and Earnshaw will have fitness test this afternoon (Thursday 04/09)

Both Sam Vokes and Rob Earnshaw havel joined up with the squad on Tuesday (02/09). No replacements are set to be named. 


After discussions between the managers John Toshack, Alan Curbishley and Craig Bellamy, it has been mutually agreed that in the interests of all parties that Craig will continue his rehabilitation plan at West Ham Utd. Bellamy will therefore miss the FIFA World Cup double Header against Azerbaijan in Cardiff and Russia in Moscow.  Freddy Eastwood has also withdrawn with a groin injury.

The squad assembles this evening and will train tomorrow morning (Tuesday 02/09) at the Vale.

Robert Earnshaw is set to miss Wales' World Cup qualifying double header against Azerbaijan and Russia after suffering a hamstring injury. This to be confirmed by the FAW. There are also doubts over the fitness of Craig Bellamy, Freddy Eastwood and Sam Vokes. Squad are scheduled to meet up today (Monday 01/09) ahead of the game on Saturday.


Both Robert Earnshaw (Nottingham Forest) and central defender Rhys Williams (Middlesbrough) have been called up. Both are called up as cover with several players at this moment with injury concerns.

John Toshack has named a 26 man squad for the World Cup matches against Azerbaijan and Russia. After the game against Azerbaijan, certain U-21 players may leave the senior squad to join Brian Flynn's squad that will travel to Romania for the UEFA Under 21 qualifying match on Tuesday 9th September.


John Toshack will name the senior squad for the opening World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Russia on Friday August 22nd at around mid-day. Under 21 manager Brian Flynn will name his squad for the UEFA qualifier in Romania early next week.

A disappointing defeat for Wales at the Liberty Stadium against Georgia.

EARLIER TEAM NEWS:
Brian Stock (Doncaster Rovers) has withdrawn from the squad due to injury (back). He has been replaced in the squad by Swansea City's Matthew Collins. Joe Allen is needed by Swansea City for a reserve team fixture on Tuesday afternoon, and will not be joining the squad. All other members of the squad trained today. Carl Robinson has arrived from Canada. Wales will be captained by Simon Davies.

All members of the senior squad have reported to the team hotel, also added to the squad are Swansea City's Joe Allen and Matthew Collins, they will train with the squad on Monday. A decision as to whether they will remain with the squad will be taken after the training.

Due to an injury to Lewis Price (cartilage operation), Chelsea's Rhys Taylor has received his first call-up for the Senior Wales squad. Rhys has been a regular in the under 21 squad for the last year. David Cotterill has been added to the squad, also Craig Davies would have joined up but he has been withdrawn on disciplinary grounds at the request of his club, which the FAW has agreed to. Neal Eardley has also been called up from the Under 21s. Arron Davies has withdrawn due to a calf injury.


Wales' friendly with Georgia goes ahead as planned after travel arrangements for the Georgian players has been resolved.

The Georgian FF has confirmed that they are able to travel for the game at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea.

The FAW has agreed to give the Georgia Football Federation a further 24 hours to try to resolve their travel issues. Talks have been held with the Foreign Office, as the British Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia is closed due to the recent hostilities. Georgian nationals must have a visa to visit the UK. It is possible that the British Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan may be able to assist. The Georgians are still very keen to see the match played and the FAW support them in that view. However, it is agreed that a final decision must be taken to give everyone as much notice as possible. - faw.org.uk


With the conflict in Georgia continuing there are doubts over the friendly against Georgia at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea, on August 20th. The Football Association of Wales have  spoken with the Georgian Football Federation this morning (Monday 11th), the GFF will be keeping the FAW up to date on any further developments. At this time the FAW are hopeful that the game can be played.

There will be further talks regarding the game on Wednesday 13th August. The Georgian FF are still very keen to play the match, but much will depend on events over the next 36 hours or so.

If the game is called off, a low-key training get-together is set to be held. "I have spoken to the Georgian FA and they are still confident the game will go-ahead" - Mark Evans (FAW).


John Toshack has named a 19-man squad for the Nationwide friendly international against Georgia. There are recalls for Paul Parry and Robert Earnshaw, players from the Under 21 squad will come in as cover next week or so. Lewis Price looks set to miss the game with a knee injury. Also doubtful is Jason Koumas has not made an appearance pre-season due to a knee injury. Squad are set to meet up on Sunday evening.

"I will certainly call-in several of the players that are in the Under 21 squad at the moment, but I will wait until I have returned from next week's trip to Moscow before I do that. We named a large Under 21 squad for the Romania match, so that Brian and I could look at things closer to match time. The game with Georgia will be a good opportunity to get the players together before the World Cup campaign - not only for the match, but the training sessions and the chance to meet and talk about the tasks that lay ahead". - John Toshack.


John Toshack will name the Wales squad for the Nationwide friendly international against Georgia today at around mid-day. A 19-man squad will be named with no players announced in the Under 21 squad selected. Some of that will however come in as cover in to the senior squad as cover next week.

Craig Bellamy will miss the game with a hamstring injury. The injury, sustained in a pre-season friendly will mean Craig will be sidelined for at least the next two to three weeks.
