A narrow 1-0 defeat in Monchengladbach against Germany for John Toshack’s side. Six points from the first four games with Wales now third in World Cup qualifying Group 4.

Gareth Bale is set to face a late fitness test on an ankle injury picked up against Liechtenstein, He has travelled with the squad to Germany. Gareth has an ankle knock, the FAW will know more after this morning's training session (Tuesday 14th). The FAW are hoping he will ok. It looks like Bale has come through this morning's training and should be available for selection.


Sam Vokes has joined the Under 21 squad for the UEFA U21 second leg match with England at Villa Park. Steve Evans who was called into the squad as defensive cover last week has been allowed to leave and has returned to his club. Lewin Nyatanga who played for the Under 21 side in the first leg against England will travel to Germany with the senior squad.
 
The squad have today off (Sunday 13th) but will meet up this evening ahead of the game in Germany on Wednesday. Players and officials will fly out on Monday afternoon, with an open training session on Tuesday afternoon.


Confirmation that Joe Ledley (hamstring), Brian Stock (back), Rob Earnshaw (hamstring) and Freddy Eastwood (knee & ankle) have withdrawn from the squad. A decision will be made on Tuesday (7th October) as to whether any replacements will be called up.

Wayne Hennessey has trained today with the squad (Wednesday 8th) after being taken ill with a 48-hour virus. He is ok and should be available for selection.

Steve Evans has been called up. Wayne Hennessey missed training today (ill, he is expected to be in bed for a day). Jason Koumas will join up this evening (Tuesday 7th) after family commitments.

Brian Stock has been withdrawn from the squad due to back problems. tbc by FAW.  "We've talked to the Welsh medical people and told them that Brian is unfit - even though he has been playing for us. Although he has got a bad back, lack of movement gives him a problem." - Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll. Joe Ledley is also a doubt with a groin injury. Squad meet up Monday evening (6th October). Craig Morgan will join the squad after playing for Peterborough on Tuesday evening.
