NEWS: Toshack to name squad, Bellamy ok?
Manager John Toshack will name the squad for the friendly matches against Iceland and Netherlands on Thursday afternoon 15th May. Toshack will also be up in Wrexham for the Under 21 friendly against England on the same evening.
With the end of season club matches completed ahead of the two away games, Toshack should hopefully have a full complement of players for selection, though a larger than usual squad will be named.
The squad will travel to Reykjavik on Tuesday, whilst travelling to Rotterdam on the Friday ahead of the Netherlands friendly on the Sunday.
Captain Craig Bellamy looks at the moment to be ok, and should hopefully be named in the squad. Definitely not available for selection will be Gareth Bale, James Collins and Danny Gabbidon.
Friendly matches: Iceland v Wales - Friendly (Wed 28-May-08) - Reykjavik, kick off 7.30pm (local time) Netherlands v Wales - Friendly (Sun 1-Jun-08) - Rotterdam, kick off 3pm (local time).

NEWS: Four nations set for 2011
The Football Association of Wales have announced that the Four Nations tournament is likely to commence in 2011. The Associations of the Wales, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland ad Scotland met recently to consider progress and have agreed that the competition is likely to commence in 2011 during the months of February and May.
One nation is set to host the tournament on a rotational basis with matches to be played as double headers on the same day. It is intended that the competition, with this format, will be attractive to the media, supporters and will provide the respective international team managers with a meaningful competition in which to assess players. Present fixtures congestion prevents a start earlier than 2011. "We're looking at having a tournament where we all play each other, so it's three games, and we're looking at having one game in February and two in May to tie up the tournament and have a winner established." - Scottish Football Association chief executive Gordon Smith. - faw.org.uk 11-Apr-08 [11:48] |
