v Belarus - U21 - Uefa 2002
|Wales (0) 1
||Belarus (2) 2
Rahavik s/off 43
Two sloppy errors in the first half
condemned the U-21's to yet another defeat. Despite Belarus having Rahavik sent off just
before half time it was those first half errors that cost them dear.
After early pressure from Belarus, Wales had started to get on top, but a mistake from
keeper David Walsh presented Belarus a 12th minute lead. His clearance from a long through
ball was a poor one and it fell straight to Sokal, who lobbed the ball straight back over
the stranded keeper into an empty net. Wales were punished again on 32 minutes, when Rhys
Day misjudge a long ball which allowed Kutuzau to get in behind, and clip the ball over
goalkeeper David Walsh.
Wales had chances in the second half to get back into the game but only a late consolation
by substitute Matthew Williams was the only joy for the youngsters.
