one mistake spoilt a good result but it's better to make it in a friendly, this group should hold no fears portugal here we come
- Robin Johnson
I think
once and for all the recent performance
against top nations prove that it is no
fluke. If you look back before these friendlies
the improvement made was already beginning,
draws away to Poland and Ukraine are good
results the only downside is we need to
start winning more games, unfortunately
against Croatia we should have won it would
have won it had Paul Jones not made that
mistake because I could not see Croatia
scoring all night otherwise. Yes it was
an awful blunder by Jones but remember he
made one fantastic save in the first half
and we could have been 2-1 down at half
time if it wasn't for him. At least the
error was made in a friendly other than
being a crucial Euro 2004 qualifier apart
from that with other players to come back
our chances of qualifying are getting stronger
and stronger. Cymru am byth! - Mark Evans
Paul
Jones was at fault but he also made one
excellent save in the first half and shouldnt
be dropped on the back of one solitary mistake.
Gabbidon was very assured throughout although
Darren Barnard is no Gary Speed.
All in all a positive workout for some of
the fringe players who no doubt will be
called into action at some stage of the
Euro qualifiers.
Keep it up boys!! - Rich
I was very impressed with the performance
of many of the fringe players last night.
Danny Gabbidon was excellent in the centre,
looking much more comfortable than his appearance
as left-back against the Czechs. It was
very noticeable that in the last third of
the game, the Welsh attacking options were
severely limited. Although Taylor went close
with a header, it became more apparent that
without Hartson (and Roberts) we don't have
a target man who can hold up the ball. This
is perhaps my biggest worry for the Euro
qualifiers. I'm looking forward to seeing
Andy Johnson and PAul Evans wearing Wales
shirts again in the future. It was wonderful
to see Simon score for Wales. He has been
one of the most consistent players for the
team in the last few games and I hope that
one of the "big" Premiership clubs
saw him play yesterday as I thing he's got
what it takes to become a truly great player.
It never ceases to amaze me that Wales continue
to produce so many high quality midfielders
(Koumas, Vaughan, M Jones) but so few defencemen...
perhaps it's in the genes. - Richard
Martin Mark Hughes is doing
wonders for Wales but is being too kind
about Paul Jones' error - it was a shocking
piece of goal keeping. Great result,
though. - Huw Muppet paul jones -
Paul
Great result pity theyre goal had to come from a mistake.
