The qualifying rounds are a marathon, not a sprint.
A 1 - 1 draw is an okay result. - (Keith - Swansea)
A bit dissapointed with the result, any point away from home especially in a place like baku is a good point i suppose, but wales surely must have been going for the 3 points, this places alot more pressure on the boys on wednesday night against northern ireland where anything but the 3 points would place even more pressure on wales with the clash against those english bastards coming up.
set plays where a major problem, defence loked tp panic on occasions, but saying this I think we can get a result agains northern ireland and with giggs and davis to return for the english we can only improve.
CYMRU AM BYTH! - ( Brendan Mccarthy - Melbourne, Australia)
Absolute rubbish... most players in the red shirts are earning 20 grand a week and we can't send a bunch of potato farmers packing. We need to attack, attack, attack Sparky! -
(David Williams - Jordan)
Dissapointing, but England slipping up helped keep us on level with them! Let's see on wednesday, because every team in the world has a bad game now and then...ask Sven!!!! -
(Dai - Caerphilly)
Watched the match in an english pub, when the free kick when screaming in heard some english CSMF say they ain't cheering now so went over to them and said did u cheer when Rui Costa scored in Portugal they said no and i said i did :o) that wiped the smile off their face lol.....the boys didn't play brilliant but it was the first match so a draw was ok but we should of won.Speeds goal was brill but we should of had more Earnshaw should of been put on alot earlier makes Wednesday game interesting and I'll be there come on boys we can do it :o) -
(Andrew - Llanbradach)
We didn't play too badly considering we were missing a couple of key players - I'm of the opinion we'll beat Northern Ireland after their 3-0 loss to Poland. -
(Grant Jones - Southport)
A disappointing performance and result,The most important thing is we didn't lose though and can recover from a bad start.
All in all it was just a bad day at the office for the boys and they will recover. -
(Steve - Beddau)
A very disappointing performance. Felt like a defeat. Hughes should have brought on Earnshaw earlier than the 84th minute. It was clear with 25 mins to go that we were struggling with no link up between midfield and attack.
Earnshaw should have bneen given at least 15 mins - not sure if Koumas was the right one to take off as it limited attacking options.
Balls into the box were appalling abpart from the goal and Earnie's header.
Paul Jones was at fault but where was the wall for the free kick.
However, a great chance to redeem things on Wednesday and pick ourselves back up. Thatcher back and I'd put Johnson in for Pembridge. - (Jonathan Dearth - London)
I THOUGHT THE PERFORMANCE WAS BAD. CANT SEE US EVEN GETTING A DRAW OFF ENGLAND, OUR CENTER BACKS WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE I DONT RATE R.PAGE AT ALL JAMES COLLINS IS FAR BETTER. GABBIE NEEDS TO BE IN THE CENTRE AS WELL, WE NEED TO INPROVE WEDNESDAY BOYS COME ON!!!!! I KNOW WE CAN DO IT, LETS SHOW THE WORLD WHAT WE CAN DO!!!! WALES WALES WALES, KEEP IT REAL.......... - (MARK WILLIAMS - CWMBRAN)
they looked tired.
they looked too casual, as if they were sure of the victory.
shame Earnshaw didn't get at least 10-15 minutes... was Sparkey too indecisive?
At least Austria/England was a draw too. We need to hammer the Irish now...
- (Rich - Glasgow)
Disappointed !!! Maybe not so much with the performance but more with the attitude shown by most players and most importantly, Mark Hughes. I simply can't believe at 1-0 up that he couldnt bring on Earnshaw and kill them off. I have reservations about whether Mark is the man for the job over the next 14-15 months. He's the best we got and I will back him and his side,as always, but I sure as hell dont back his decisions. They're shocking at times. There's a saying that in the stands there can be 73,000 "managers", but the man on the "terrace" and in the "stands" can see whats really going on. Look at managers like Allardyce. I dont like Mark's attitude with leaning on the blwdy dug-out shelter's neither. How can his team gain inspiration from seeing that ??? -
(Russ - Bargoed)
Not lucky enough to be able to watch the game out here!! A draw away from home is always a good result in any international competition.
Pob lwc ir hogia yn erbyn y gwyddelod a twll tin bob sais. "Rhowch hell iddyn nhw!!"
Cymru am Byth!!!! - (Howie - Perth, Australia (Gogledd Cymru)
The match was ok i guess but what is the point of putting rob ernshaw on later in the game. And our best player on the team is giggs and he wer'nt even playing. Wales made a lot of mistakes in that match but lets see if we can make it up at NORTHERN IRELAND and show them how wales REALLY PLAY!!!! -
(Liam - London)
