Match Report |
A disastrous second-half performance
as Wales let slip a half time lead to eventually go down 3-2 in Oslo. Wales' misery was
complete went captain Ryan Giggs was sent off 5 minutes from time. The evening had started
well with an excellent 25-yard volley from Robbie Savage and a fine move, which led to
Craig Bellamy making 2-1 before half time. But as Wales sat back in the second half and
the pressure mounted goals from Carew and F Johnsen sealed the victory for Norway and
condemned Wales to their 3rd defeat in Group 5. |

Reaction |
"Yes, it was my first, and yes
at any level. But I don't want to talk about it." - Giggs on his red card.
"I haven't really seen the two incidents yet on TV, but maybe if he had been
any other player he would have stayed on. Whether the fact that it was Ryan was a factor
you'll have to ask the referee. The second one certainly was not a bad foul. The lad
immediately jumped up and walked away." - Mark Hughes on Ryan Giggs |
