Match Report

A battling performance from Wales in Warsaw secured another point in World Cup qualifying Group 5. Determined in defence, competitive in midfield and always looking to create up-front this was one of the best performances by a Welsh team in recent years. Wales remained un-changed from the side that drew with Norway at the Millennium Stadium four days earlier. The closet threat came in the 73 minute when Juskowiak's shot clipped the crossbar.

Key moments
First half

1 min: A Mark Delaney pass puts John Hartson free into box but he seemed surprised that he was not called offside. He then tamely hits a right foot lob wide of the target.
10 min: Gilewicz is through on goal on the right but his hits the side netting.
31 min: Kaluzny rises six-yards out to meet a Zewlakow cross but he guides his header wide of the right-hand post.
44 min: A Kaluzny effort from outside the box fails to test Paul Jones.

46 min: Wales were awarded a throw on the left, Karwan takes it quickly for the Poles but amazingly referee Batista waves play on. With the defence stretched Juskowiak hits a first-time shot high and wide from just inside the area.
48 min: A long free-kick somehow finds it's way to Gary Speed who hits his right-foot shot wide of the right-hand post.
63 min: A 30-yard free kick from Zewlakow's goes narrowly over Paul Jones' crossbar.
73 min: Poland's best chance of the game came as a Zewlakov run and cross from the left finds Juskowiak in the box, he turns and shoots in one movement only to find his shot clipping the top of Paul Jones' crossbar.
77 min: Gary Speed finds space at the far post to meet a Ryan Giggs free-kick but his header falls straight into the arms of Dudek.
82 min: A John Robinson run and pass on the right is cut out by the Polish defence with Ryan Giggs in space and with a clear run on goal.
90 min: Zewlakow shoots wide from a 25-yard free kick.
